Biblical Zoo seeks to preserve species of Noah’s ark
Posted On 14 Aug 2013
In commemoration of its twenty years of activity, the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo has been dedicated to preserving thirty kinds of animals mentioned in the Old Testament, which, in most cases, are in danger of extinction.
Those responsible for this peculiar zoo ensure that this project works hand in hand with several zoos around the world: preserving species threatened by human hands or natural phenomena.
The complex welcomes over a thousand mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, representing over 140 different species and is distributed in two main areas.
The Biblical Zoo participates in over fifteen breeding projects between rare and endangered species, that the institution is trying to return to their characteristic ecosystems.
