Bonil: “I will keep drawing” against complaints to his cartoons
Cartoonist Xavier Bonilla ‘Bonil’ who on Friday, February 13 received a second admonition in a year for his cartoons, will continue drawing cartoons that bother the ones in power, and especially the government of Rafael Correa, as he advanced in an interview with the AFP.
The Superintendency of Communication considered “discriminatory” a cartoon published in the newspaper El Universo, in which Bonilla satirized the former soccer player and Assemblyman Agustin Delgado, and urged the artist to “correct his practices” and to “refrain from repeating” to violate the law.
“I’ll keep drawing as I have done for 30 years, next to those who demand respect for all kinds of rights: ollective, social and individual. I’ve kept that line … I will not change a groundless and infamous complaint,”said Bonil.
