Books Travel Around Guayaquil
The pro-reading campaign “El Libro Viajero” (The Traveling Book), sponsored by Diario and Fundación El Universo, begins today. This is a project to promote reading among the citizens of Guayaquil, to make this happen, 117 copies of novels, poems, essays and stories will be distributed in public places like the boardwalk Simón Bolívar, Seminario and Centenario Parks, Centro Civico, Jaime Roldos Aguilera bus terminal or airport José Joaquín de Olmedo, for people to find and read them.
“They can take it home (the book), but they should not leave it in their library or saved in a drawer,” says Paquita Calderón, a member of the project team, because the objective is to keep circulating the texts among people who are interested in developing the reading habit.
The sticker in the cover and in the book, a separator, the sticker that seals the cover and pages with Fundación El Universo and Diario logo are the hallmark of the titles that belong to the project. Calderon claims that the project has not set a time limit for reading the books, however, the person who finds the text should try to read it in no more than three weeks, and then return it to a public place with the distinctive cover of the project, so that each book reaches an average eight readers.
