Bucaram seeks to void the judgments against him
Posted On 21 May 2014
Abdala Bucaram Ortiz wants to return from Panama to Ecuador. His son, Abdalá Bucaram Pulley, went yesterday to the National Court of Justice to request the annulment of the cases against the former president.
The judgments against him are embezzlement, irregularities in the School Backpack program and mishandling in the reserved expenditure account of the Presidency.
Although Bucaram Ortiz lawyers submitted to the Constitutional Court a protective action that allows the asylee access for health reasons in 2009, the strategy changed and the records returned to the National Court.
Bucaram Pulley demanded an equal treatment as the case of the former vice president Alberto Dahik, where judgments were prescribed and he could return home.
