Indigenous march demands resources for irrigation project
In order to demand financial resources to complete the irrigation project Pesillo-Imbabura, in the Cayambe’s canton, thousands of Indigenous came to Quito this morning with the intention of meeting with President Rafael Correa.
The meeting point was the Independece Square, but the government palace was protected by policemen to prevent the arrival of Indigenous.
Without access to Carondolet´s Palace, protesters will wait at the San Francisco Square until Correa receives a delegation to give him a list of requests.
These requests are originated because dozens of communities of Cayambe and Pedro Moncayo do not have drinking water.
The irrigation project Imbabura-Pesillo is developed near the San Marcos Lagoon (Cayambe),a work that was planned at the end of 2013, with a nearly cost of $ 200 million dollars.
