Cabify will stop operating in Ecuador

Posted On 16 Feb 2023

The Cabify company will stop operating in Ecuador from March 15, 2023. The firm announced the cessation of its work in the country in a message it sent to its clients on February 15.

Cabify announced the closure of operations in Ecuador. The firm provided transportation service in Quito and Guayaquil.

“After traveling in your city for a while (…) we stopped operating in Quito and Guayaquil as of March 15, 2023,” Cabify said in a small statement that it sent to its users‘ emails.

Despite the closure of its operations in Ecuador, the company assured that it will continue to be available in 40 cities in Latin America and in Spain.

Cabify works through an application that offers, since 2011, transport services in different types of vehicles. In the ‘app’, the customer can find out the driver’s identity, choose the music they want to listen to during the trip and other products.

Cabify and its work with companies

At the end of 2021, the firm provided its service to 65,000 companies. Of these, 28,000 were from Spain and 37,000 from Latin America, according to data from the Pulpo portal.

The company formed an alliance in 2019 with Easy Taxi, the agreement contemplated joining teams and operations to provide the mobility service in Latin America.

In Spain and Portugal, the platform, in addition to the taxi transfer, offers a private vehicle with a driver, food service or even a helicopter.

In its announcement, Cabify thanked its clients in Ecuador for the trips they made with the company.
