CAN: Resolution 116 must be removed within 15 days
The Secretary of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) gave 15 business days for the government to report on the uprising of Resolution 116 of the Foreign Trade Committee of Ecuador.
The CAN completed research related to the regulation and called it a “restriction to intra-subregional trade,” for being considered contrary to the terms of the Agreement of Cartagena.
In response to the CAN, the Ministry of Foreign Trade, through a statement informed that the arguments of the organism will be analyzed in order to “evaluate resources and procedural actions that are available under the Andean legal system” .
Resolution 116 imposed late last year, requires to more than 200 subheadings the presentation of a certificate of recognition INEN, which ensures the fulfillment of technical standards in its elaboration, however these certifications could not be obtained because there are no laboratories emitters.
