Venezuelan president, Hugo Chavez, informed that he will be in Caracas on Sunday to start a radiotherapy treatment in “upcoming weeks.” Chavez traveled to Cuba to remove a cancerous wound that forced him to lower the tone of his campaign for the reelection.

Chavez had previously assured to defeat cancer and was in good condition. However his recent relapse has shaken the political scenario of the South American country that is preparing for crucial elections in October. With this event the current president expects to extend his rule for another six years.

During Sunday afternoon the Venezuelan president appeared through the Venezuelan state channel (VTV) to inform that he would be starting the radiotherapy as he previously stated, and would continue to maintain the treatment that he started last year. (AV)
