Close election campaigns in Uruguay
Multitudinous street acts closed on the evening of Thursday, October 23 the electoral campaigns of political parties in Uruguay towards national elections on Sunday, in which 2.6 million people will elect a new president and will renew the bicameral Congress.
The ruling Frente Amplio (FA), that heads the preferences of the electorate with an average of 42 percent, gathered a multitude in a park area along the Rio de la Plata, where the presidential candidate, Tabaré Vázquez, and his formula partner Raul Sendic, spoke.
While the National Party (PN), which is second, with about 10 percentage points, rallied its followers in the city of Las Piedras, neighboring Montevideo, and considered an electoral stronghold of presidential candidate Luis Lacalle Pou.
