QUITO, Ecuador

From next October 18, the National Electoral Council (CNE for its Spanish acronym) will take over advertising that promotes the Ecuadorian elections of February 17, 2013.

The measure is adopted in order to comply with Article 205 of the Code of Democracy: “Since the announcement of elections, any advertising with electoral purposes other than those provided by the National Electoral Council, are strictly forbidden.”

That is why in ten days, the CNE will act as a filter for information of media that want to promote the elections and its participants. (MZ)
