Coronavirus in Ecuador: $ 53.54 million estimates Health for supplies and medications
In the ongoing process, which until midnight expected to receive offers, it is expected to buy supplies and medicines for about $ 53.54 million, according to estimates made by that state portfolio.
Until yesterday Ecuador registered more than 1000 positive cases of coronavirus, most of them concentrated in Guayaquil, where the headquarters of the Ministry of Health moved.
The largest item, which would demand about $ 30.82 million, will go towards the purchase of medical devices, detailed in about 45 items. The list of acquisitions includes examination gloves, surgical gloves, surgical gowns, caps, alcoholic gel, safety glasses, N95 respirators, among others.
Corpse packaging bags are included in this purchase. More than $ 269,000 was estimated for that acquisition.
The second most important item in this contract is for about $ 15.41 million and will go for medications such as paracetamol in various presentations, sodium chloride and other items.
To acquire implements for UCI, an estimated $ 7.30 million was estimated. The listing includes biosafety suits, rapid PCR tests for FilmArray respiratory viruses, PCR for coronaviruses and other instruments.
In the last hours, the Health Minister, Juan Carlos Zevallos, insisted that the MSP has the necessary resources for public health and that he had maintained contact with providers and this week 200,000 tests will arrive in the country for COVID-19.
This contrasts with what was denounced by her predecessor, Catalina Andramuño, who alleged that there were no resources to attend to the coronavirus emergency.
With an accelerated growth of cases in Guayaquil, the technical committee was trying to develop application standards to control the spread of the coronavirus.
Zevallos said he maintained contact with the director general of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Zhao Bentang, who confirmed his country’s willingness to support the region in the fight against the virus.
