Coronavirus in Ecuador: health emergency throughout the country, ordered Lenín Moreno

The President of the Republic Lenín Moreno announced on Wednesday in the national network that he has ordered the Minister of Health Catalina Andramuño to declare a health emergency throughout the country due to the coronavirus pandemic.
He also indicated that people arriving from the nations with the highest number of cases, should be in home isolation.
Moreno said that there will be a restriction on massive events and the concentration of people, “according to risk, considering the territory and the number of cases.”
Biosecurity measures will also be strengthened. In addition, “use of technological platforms in telemedicine, online education, and teleworking, for those cases that warrant it.”
The president indicated in his message that the prohibition on leaving the country of the following products remains: masks, soaps and disinfecting gels.

Isolation of travelers and more hospitals
The national health emergency will allow “reinforcing actions that help us mitigate the spread of the disease in Ecuador,” Andramuño said in the same chain.
And he announced that an isolation process will be implemented for people who come to the country from the countries with the highest risk of contagion.
In addition, there will be an increase from 15 to 22 of the hospitals authorized to serve patients with coronavirus cases. The Secretary of Health assured that everyone is ready to attend.
In addition, starting next Monday, the laboratory of the National Institute for Public Health Research (Inspi) in Quito will also carry out tests to diagnose cases of COVID-19, he added.
