Correa achieves trade agreements during his trip to Russia
The President of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, in his second day of visit to Russia, will sign bilateral agreements, notably on trade, education and culture. In addition, he will meet with the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister, Dmitri Medvédev, in Moscow.
The President traveled accompanied by a Government mission and a business one, that is composed by 29 exporters and 12 delegates of guilds, Chambers and associations of processed foods, agro-industry, aquaculture, automotive and metalworking.
During his first day in Russia, Correa visited St Petersburg, where he held discussions with the Governor, Georgy Poltavchenco, who commented about significant investments and Russian companies working in Ecuador.
“We know that the key to development is the human talent… that transfer of science and technology is one of the main goals of our visit to Russia… and hopefully the Russian extraordinary scientists can go to visit Ecuador and work at the University and city of knowledge (Yachay) that we are creating”, said Correa, and informed by the website www.girarafaelcorrea.com, created by the Presidency of the Republic to follow the development of the tour.
Tomorrow, the Ecuadorian President will participate in a forum for trade and investment, where there will b discussed the key economic and trade issues and investment with more than 200 authorities, Russian buyers and investors.
Meanwhile the business delegation will hold working meetings with Russian specialists to know the characteristics of the market, as well as how to do business with that nation, visits to its logistics centres, supermarkets and distributors.
