Correa: “Conservative restoration is underway in Latin America”
President Rafael Correa, warned in an interview published yesterday in the Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo about the implementation of a “conservative restoration” in Latin America that can “end the cycle of progressive governments” in the region.
“Integration in Latin America with independent, sovereign and worthy vision, is a concern for the United States,” Correa said.
“There is already a conservative restoration, from the right, from the continent elites of always to stop those political integrated and progressive processes in the interior of our countries,” the President added.
According to Correa, who last week participated in a meeting in Brasilia between BRICS and the leaders of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur), Ecuadorian right is in contact with conservative parties of Venezuela and the U.S. in order to “fight” progressive governments.
