The Spanish justice investigate the demand for Belgian citizen that ensures the Spanish monarch Juan Carlos de Borbón is his father.

A civil division of the Supreme Court, consisting of 12 judges agreed on Wednesday to admit a lawsuit filed by the Belgian Ingrid Sartiau.

“The city has agreed to grant leave to one of two paternity suits filed against Don Juan Carlos de Borbón”, told AFP a spokeswoman for the Supreme Court.

Sartiau argues that her mother had an affair with the then Prince Juan Carlos until 1966, the year she was born. Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia were married in 1962 in Athens.

King Juan Carlos abdicated in his son Philip VI in June in hopes of renewing the crown.

The Supreme also rejected a second paternity suit a Spanish for lack of legal basis.
