Creation of manual to regulate vehicle sales is announced
Yesterday, the zonal 8 Mayor of the Superintendency of Control of Market Power, Juan Carlos Jácome, announced in Guayaquil various details of the first draft for a new manual of Good Business Practices on Vehicles.
The draft Manual consists of 18 items and even though the final date on which the document would be approved is unknown, the mayor noted that several social activities will be undertaken with stakeholders of that sector to collect observations and polish the manual. The document is now available on the Scpm.gob.ec website.
The proposal includes measures such as the prohibition of incorporating additional expenses to the exhibited retail price, “independent of the payment method; the charging of additional values outside the contract that supports the acquisition of the vehicle is also forbidden.” In addition, it is prohibited to direct or condition buyers to purchase other products or services that are not vehicles, “such as satellite tracking services with a particular company” as well as insurances with a particular company, Jacome said.
