Former presidential hopeful of the Christian Social Party Cynthia Viteri has met today with President Lenin Moreno in the Carondelet Palace as part of the process of dialogue the regime has initiated with various political parties. The meeting was attended by the Technical Secretary for Drugs Ledy Zúñiga and the Minister of Health Verónica Espinosa, with whom they have analyzed together policies for prevention and control of the consumption of narcotic drugs.
During the meeting, Viteri submitted the draft Integral Criminal Code (COIP) that punishes and prevents micro-trafficking and trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances, that was drafted by the Social Christian Party (PSC).
“The call of President Moreno to address this issue got a positive response from us. We agree that this problem is a public health problem,” Viteri emphasized. (I)
