Deadline for new labelling of products will extend until august

Yesterday, The Government justified the extension of the deadline from may to August for medium-sized and large companies to include the colour graphic system that identifies the levels of fat, sugar and salt in food on their labels.
Alexis Valencia, Deputy Minister of Industry , said yesterday that the term extension was requested by the industrial sector.
The official recalled for small and micro-enterprises the term will continue until November.
In the case of industries linked to the dairy area, Rafael Vizcarra, Director of the Center of the Dairy Industry (CIL), which represents six companies, mentioned that all these companies have started the process, but ‘only a 5% are about to conclude the labelling’.
The businessman said that ‘there are different levels of progress based on the number of products that the industries manage, the resources, stock labels and the type of products in categories and subcategories’, he said.
