Posted On 22 Jul 2014
The Ministries of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Ecuador and Chile yesterday signed bilateral long-term contracts of energy purchase. The goal is to achieve the electrical interconnection until 2020.
The agreement also seeks to identify opportunities of mutual collaboration in promoting energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy, through specific agreements on technical assistance, technology transfer, training and development of joint studies.
The agreement is articulated with the project ‘Andina Electric Interconnection System,’ which includes the conformation of a regional electricity market, in which also participate Bolivia, Colombia and Peru.
