Today, the presidents of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, and Peru, Ollanta Humala, signed a statement that defines the border in their internal waters in the Gulf of Guayaquil.

The Ecuadorian president said after the ceremony that the two countries will present the document to the UN “for the record“.

“It’s an extra step to perfectly establish all jurisdictions, all possessions, territories, waters, etc., between the two countries,” said Correa. (MZ)
