Ecuador advances in the preliminary works for the construction of the Pacific oil refinery and hopes to realize a financing with China, althought has opened the possibility to look for other options if it is not achieved.
During a visit to Santiago, the Minister of Strategic Sectors of Ecuador, Rafael Poveda, said that any delay in the agreement with China would not affect the timing of the plant capacity to 200,000 barrels per day and scheduled to go into operation in 2017.
“The refinery has been advancing in all necessary and preliminary works, engineering, that are required so as not to constitute a delay or affect the critical path of the project,” he said.
