Ecuador Fashion Week starts this September 17
For three days the Guayaquil Convention Center will host the official fashion week. National and international designers will present their collections for the upcoming season. Cecilia Niemes, president of the Ecuador Fashion Week, recognizes that in these 12 years the show has evolved. “In 2003, when it all started, it was very difficult to call the designers because there was no sense of integration as nowadays.”
After 23 productions of this event things have changed. “Designers know that one way to reduce the costs of presentation of collections is through a fashion week,” says Niemes. This is because under one same roof there are stands for promotion, catwalks, makeup and hair and other elements necessary to promote the clothing and accessories.
For Niemes, this event is a satisfactory result the work done. “We wanted to position and show the talent of Ecuador,” she explains. Changes to this show have been directed to put this event at the same level of international catwalks.
