On May 5th the Foreign Ministry reported to Carlos Perez Guartambel and Manuela Picq Lavinas the suspension of her visa application due to several observations lodged by the Immigration Unit.

The couple has maintained a critical position towards the government of Rafael Correa and participated in opposition marches. Manuela Picq, professor and a French- Brazilian activist, had to leave the country in August 2015 because the Foreign Ministry revoked her visa of cultural exchange.

The notification of the suspension of her visa application, with which she aims to return to the country, demands two requirements.
