Ecuador Foreign Ministry will not give Pedro Delgado an ordinary passport
The Foreign Ministry of Ecuador informed that it will not give an ordinary passport to Pedro Delgado, the former president of the Central Bank who currently resides in Miami, “but a safe passage that would him travel back to the Ecuador and answer the investigation process for which he has been called.”
This decision was taken due to the arrest warrant against him in the preliminary investigation carried out by the independent assemblyman Enrique Herreria for misrepresentation. Meanwhile the Attorney General’s Office, Galo Chiriboga said that for this case the prosecution requested a 24-hours-detention and not, as stated earlier, “a prison warrant”. “We are in an investigation and the measure of the detention is for the investigation… Surely during my interventions there was an inaccuracy,” Chiriboga said.
But for Enrique Herreria, Chiriboga statements are errors that in the future would cause the annulment of the process. Adding that the former official attorney, Juan Carlos Carmigniani, said he would request the revocation of the measure since it is not relevant during this stage.
