Ecuador hired a U.S. advertising communication company
Ecuador hired the American company MCSquared Inc. to study and develop communication strategies, information, image and advertising communication. According to the documents available on the website of the Unit of Foreign Agents Registration of the U.S. Department of Justice, the contract is of $ 6.4 million.
The contract states that MCSquared will be responsible for complying with the creation of a strategy for “immediate restraint” to mitigate the effects of the actions of multinational corporations and designed to “reduce Ecuador‘s reputation internationally“.
The contract manager is Fernando Alvarado, National Secretary of Communication. According to the document available on the portal FARA, Alvarado would have requested the hiring of MCSquared in April 2013, because of “forces seeking to quietly undermine the economic growth of Ecuador, destroy the image of the growing global leadership of President Correa and isolate the country from the international community”.
