Yesterday, August 6, Ecuador was an international host of the “sexting, grooming, pornovenganza” meeting, whose victims are women, children and young Internet users. This is now combated by cyber-police, agents that operate as “good pirates” of the network.
The problem starts when someone shares intimate images with people they considered reliable. Something common these days. However, many are victims of extortion in which they are threatened of distributing these images or damaging their reputation or family relationships.
The rise of this practices forced the police to form agents able to track such attacks, in order to derive them to justice. This was explained by specialized agents from Spain, Colombia and Ecuador, who attend in Quito the Ameripol meeting (Police Community of America).
