Ecuador Offers Prosthetics Factory to Address Disability in Latin America
Posted On 13 Aug 2012
The Government of Ecuador offered last Saturday to build a prosthetics factory in order to supply prosthesis to people with disabilities.
This was stated by Ecuadorian Vice President Lenin Moreno, who led the government Saturday’s report, which is usually led by President Rafael Correa.
Moreno, who is leading the campaign, said the factory will produce about 4,000 prostheses a year, thus covering the entire national demand.
When that goal is met, just a marginal production will go for the domestic market and the remaining prostheses will be available for the rest of Latin America, he added. (MZ)
