Ecuador will demand medical insurance from tourists since September

Ecuador will require tourists to visit the country compulsory health insurance from next September 10, when a presidential decree ratified in July on the measure will come into effect.
This was reported today by the Ministry of Tourism in an official statement addressed to the national and international tourism industry and the general public.
“Health insurance for tourists entering the country, will be required once it is sixty days counted from the entry into force of Executive Decree No. 446 signed by the President of the Republic, Lenin Moreno, this 12 of July 2018 in the city of Cuenca, that is, it will be required from September 10, 2018 “, the note indicates.
The requirement for visitors to the Andean country is included in an article of the Human Mobility Law, in another transitory regulation of the Organic Mobility Law and in an executive decree that dates from August 2017.
The mandatory health insurance for tourists, which should have entered into force last February, was postponed on two subsequent occasions by presidential decree, without informing the reasons for the postponement. (I)
