Ecuadorian Biodiversity Was Exhibited in Berlin
Ecuador made a special presentation of its proposal in the context of the ITB Berlin Convention, with the objective of promoting tourism in Ecuador as it is one of the most biodiversity countries in the world, for its flora and fauna as well as by their ethnic groups and cultures.
Freddy Elhers, Minister of Tourism, was the one who led this performance with the specific intent to promote “tourism awareness” beyond sustainable tourism as it aims to contribute to the recognition of man as part of nature.
Ehlers said that tourism in Ecuador is an indispensable resource for nature conservation, and said: “We believe that tourism is more than a business, and there are issues more important than money such as tourism as a means of protecting nature,”
The message sent by Elhers in Germany was about the raising of awareness to help the non destruction of this treasure of all mankind, and that very few countries are not willing to exploit these energy resources.
The Yasuni conservation project in Germany has a special relevance as the Ecuadorian government has tried so far without tangible progress to seek financial support from Berlin to protect this natural reserve and not to exploit their energy resources.
