Ecuadorian cacao receives recognition

The International Cocoa Organization ratified Ecuador’s position as the producer of a 75% of fine flavor cocoa, this was reported by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Luis Valverde, who attended the annual meeting of the international union, which took place in the Wembles, London.
Ecuador supplies more than half the volume of fine cocoa. 365,000 hectares are sown mostly by small producers. The country’s annual production is 160 thousand tons of fine cocoa. The product is distinguished by its taste and fragrance.
Among the largest exporters of cocoa are: INCACAO, National Fine Chocolates Cofina SA, Chocolates Noboa, Cafeica.
