Ecuadorian Journalists and Foreign Minister will be Received by IACHR

Next Thursday Human Rights Organizations and Ecuadorian journalists will meet with members of the Inter-American Commission of Human Rights (IACHR), to continue with the debate of free speech in Ecuador.

Cesar Ricaurte and Mauricio Alarcon, Delegates from Fundamedios, along with Journalists Christian Calderon and Juan Carlos Zurita, authors of book “El Gran Hermano”, will present the situation of free speech and the press in Ecuador, the obstacles for journalists in election periods, the modernization of justice in the hands of the Government and the legal status of the Communicators.

Meanwhile, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño announced via Twitter that he will also be received privately by several commissioners of IACHR in Washington, on Friday. This meeting coincides with the round of public hearings on the continent of several social organizations seeking to address some issues.
