El Universo Case: Deputy judges analyze the challenge request
Deliberations regarding a challenge request presented by El Universo Newspaper against permanent deputy judges Luis Quiroz, César Enrique Pacheco and Salinas Sacoto, began as soon as the Chamber of deputy judges (Giovanny Alejandro Criollo Mayorga, replacing Ramiro Roman, who did not accept the post yesterday) was formed by the Second Criminal Chamber of the National Court of Justice (CNJ).
Criollo thus adds to the associate judges Gerardo Morales (permanent) and Leonidas Plaza Verduga (occasional), who already accepted the order to integrate the body.
Criollo confirmed that he agreed to join the Chamber and preferred not going into details about the process that he and his colleagues will do regarding the challenge request.
According to the website of Expreso Newspaper the associate judges at 16:00 Criollo, Plaza and Morales Suarez asked the judges of the Second Chamber: Quiroz, Pacheco and Salinas, prepare a report on the charges against him and to submit within 24 hours (today at 16:00).
With the report of the judges of the Second Criminal Chamber, the three deputy judges must decide whether to accept or reject the challenge of the three associate judges.
