Emelec got Eliminated and Fans Demand Resignation of Carrasco
After being defeated by Olimpia Club of Paraguay 2-1 in the Capwell Stadium in Guayaquil, Club Sport Emelec got eliminated yesterday from the South American Cup.
Colombian referee, Jose Buitrago ended the match at minute 81, due to riots made by the electrical fans, who demanded the resignation of Juan Ramon Carrasco, head coach of Emelec, in the middle of a plastic bottles rain and people chanting insults against Carrasco.
At minute 6 of the first half, Richard Ortiz scored the first goal for the Olympia. Then, Pablo Zeballos obtained the second victory for the visitors, at minute 68. For its part, Emelec scored a goal in minute 68.
At the end of the meeting, a group of fans tried to provoke rowdyisms outside the stadium, but were prevented by the national police.
