Esmeraldas refinery is paralyzed for 40 days

The Esmeraldas refinery starts from today a total stoppage of its productive activities to continue the rehabilitation of the plant, which began in 2008.

During these 40 days the maintenance of cooling water systems, changes in air lines and the renovation of the line of tea will be done, in addition to the divestiture of the two Catalytic No units, Petroecuador said in a statement.

“The complexity of these operating systems requires that their intervention can only be done with the plant out of operation”, said Petroecuador.

The aim of this deadlock is to optimize the plant and its systems, enabling operational continuity of this and increasing its efficiency.

“The Esmeraldas Refinery has in stock the sufficient volume of derivatives to ensure the safe and reliable supply to the internal market. And imports that will be needed have been already coordinated by the area of ​​International Trade area,” said the state company.
