Establishments expect to improve incomes with new schedules to sell alcohol
The owners of restaurants and hotels of Quito received with satisfaction the decision of the Ministry of Tourism to extend the hours for the sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays. This measure will be applied from this weekend.
From now, alcohol could be sold until 22:00 in five businesses: restaurants, cafes, fast food places, banquet halls and accommodation places.
Andrea Perez, manager of the restaurant “Querubín”, located in Quito, said that the former ban reduced billing and staff recruitment of this establishment.
With this change, Perez expects to recover the sales, which had fallen by up to 40%.
Luis Márquez, manager of “Café del Fraile”, added: “We have Chilean, Argentine and Italian clients that accompany their meals with wine for a cultural issue; however, we could not sell alcohol and that generated uneasiness”.
Marcelo Valladares, administrator of “Q Restaurant”, located in the Foch Plaza, noted the measure as positive because it comes out in a week that Father’s Day is celebrated and the participation of the national team in the World Cup initiates.
