The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Colombia, María Antonia Van Gool, yesterday presented the project ‘Moorlands: Biodiversity and water resources in the northern Andes,’ which seeks to promote conservation in seven Andean highlands of Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
The program includes the El Angel-Chiles-Quitasol moorland, located in the border corridor between Colombia and Ecuador, the Chimborazo complex, in addition to others in Colombia and Peru.
The plan includes seven regions and is expected to be executed in three and a half years with an EU contribution of 5 million euros (about 5.6 million dollars).
