The political party Partido Sociedad Patriotica (PSP), carried out a demand against the head of the Communication Secretariat of the Presidency (Secom for its Spanish acronym), Fernando Alvarado. Fernando Aguirre, assemblymen for Azuay, made the accusation, before the General Prosecutor, who accused him of embezzlement and disrespect.

The motive for this action was for a documentary of 35 minutes that strongly critics the Management of several governments before the regime of Rafael Correa. In the video, among others, there is a special mentions to two candidates: Lucio Gutierrez and Guillermo Lasso.

Last week PSP presented a formal complain before the head of the National Electoral Council, Domingo Paredes, for the broadcast of this documentary that its considered as the beginning of a “dirty campaign” with the only objective of soiling the image of the former president Lucio Gutierrez. However the video was broadcasted again last Sunday.

Due to this actions, political forces like PSP and PRE warned with a penal trial. PSP demands that an investigation of the denounced facts is carried out and for violating the article 205 of the Democratic Code, which forbids the electoral advertising and the 203 which points out that the media cannot make promotions directly or indirectly. “We show that Alvarado used public funds to benefit a candidate,” said Aguirre.
