Festival will promote national folklore
Three years ago the Cuenca folk group Yawarkanchik (blood, in English), created the Identities National Folk Festival to promote the diversity of cultures in the four regions of Ecuador.
For the third consecutive year Cuenca will witness the Ecuadorian folklore, an event to be held on Thursday, May 14th at 20:00 in the Pumapungo auditorium of the Ministry of Culture and Heritage. The folk groups Ñucanchik Ecuador, from Riobamba, and Ñucanchi Allpa, from Quito will participate in the event.
The Festival aims to promote, through dance, the diversity of identities the country has, said Dari Jimenez, of the communication area of Yawarkanchik. He added that each group will perform four choreographies with rhythms of the Coast, the Mountains, the Amazonas and the Insular region.
