Correa admits talks between the Colombian government and the ELN in Ecuador
Posted On 13 May 2015
Talks between representatives of the Colombian government and the Ejército de Liberación Nacional took place in Ecuadorian soil, admitted Wednesday president Rafael Correa, who offered support for the talks to continue.
At a press conference, Correa said: “President Juan Manuel Santos asked us with a very low profile, in a confidential way, if we could provide them the facilities for talks with the ELN. That was done and at the moment I guess that the process with the ELN will continue. We all hope this continues as it is occurring with the FARC and come to a successful conclusion.”
He added that Ecuador will always be willing to work with Colombia to achieve a definitive peace.
