Flame Wave Approaches the National Park Cotopaxi
Posted On 17 Sep 2012
Strong winds now complicate the work of the firemen in the area of Ticantilin moor, on the south side of the Cotopaxi volcano.
Five units of firemen were supplying themselves with nearby lakes to fight the fire. Meanwhile from the air, two helicopters equipped with Bambi Bucket (system to quell the forest flames) of the Army, launched water the extensive sections that burned in flames.
Since yesterday a ship from the Colombian Armed Forces with the same system to fight the fire was scheduled to help them against the flames. AV
