Foreign Ministry has 859 employees abroad

According to information from the State Secretariat, the 859 employees, who must meet diplomatic functions, are divided between 48 countries.

The same entity reveals that the number of diplomats is mostly focused on eight offices: United States (138), Spain (125), Italy (41), China (31), Russia (14), Colombia (27), Mexico (23), Brazil (20) and Chile (18).

In the country, the Ministry has 1,211 employees. A special review of the National Audit Office revealed that the Ecuadorian Foreign Minister Ricardo Patiño has 125 counselors to work in his office. Patiño denies such data and claimed to have no excess advisors.
