Former Secretary of Intelligence of Correa arrested in Spain
The apprehension was carried out by order of the Spanish National Court and Romero will be in prison until his extradition is executed.
The former official has two processes against him: one for alleged peculation and another for alleged plagiarism.
Romero was in Spain four years ago and during that time he requested asylum from that country, but was denied.
The extradition request is related to the case of the kidnapping of political activist Fernando Balda.
Minister Romo indicated that the Ecuadorian State will wait for the respective process, as Interpol must contact the National Police and then notifications must be made between foreign ministries.
The arrest was executed 20 months after the Spanish justice released him after his first arrest for the alleged kidnapping of Balda.
