Ecuadorians will pay less in their international roaming rate
More than 4 million Ecuadorians , postpaid mobile phone users, will benefit from the reduction of international roaming rates, within the framework of Decision No. 854, approved in the Third Session of the Extended Commission, of the Community Andina, developed in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, on February 18.
According to the Ministry of Telecommunications and the Information Society (Mintel), the representatives before the CAN of Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia and Peru approved the elimination of costs for the benefit of more than 111 million Andean citizens.
This measure will be applied in the countries of the CAN from July 19, 2020, gradually, until December 31, 2021, date that is established as a limit to reach the 0% rate target. That is, as of January 2022, without additional charge, roaming providers will have to apply the same local tariff conditions to international roaming services for outgoing calls and SMS, and in the use of mobile data.
An example of these benefits will be that incoming calls will cost $ 0.40 per minute, which will represent a 67% reduction , until December 31, 2021. In the case of outgoing calls , service rates It will be $ 0.10 per minute, for those who use this service, which will be reduced by approximately 93%
