Forty Dead in Yemen, Civil War Fear Grows

Posted On 26 May 2011

Over 40 Yemenia were killed this Thursday in clashes held in the capital city, where fights to end the 33 years of presidential system by Alli Abdullah Saleh threatened to unleash a civil war.

Hundreds of residents of Saná with furniture and other possessions stacked up in their cars were preparing themselves to flee out as soon as possible from the violence that has killed more than 80 people since Monday.

The confrontation between Saleh security forces and the powerful members of the tribe Hashed led by Sadiq Al-ahmar, was the bloodiest in Yemen since the beginning of protests in January.
