Germany Blames Spanish Pickles of Deathly Bacteria
According to the research of the Hygiene Institute of Hamburg three people in Germany have lost their lives to a strange, but deathly bacteria. Senator of Hamburg Sanity, Cornelia Prüfer-Storcks (SPD), explained that one of the pickles investigated has the Escherichia coli also called Ehec, which is very toxic to humans.
The number of patients in Germany afflicted by these bacteria has risen to 600 in only 10 days. From these subjects, a 140 show symptoms of the dangerous Hemolytic uremic syndrome. The rapid propagation of these bacteria among the German population has caused a social alarm.
Meanwhile the Spanish government considers that is too soon to officially confirm that the Spanish pickles are responsible of this infectious outbreak. The contaminated pickles were seized in the great food market of Hamburg, and the Robert Koch Institute of Berlin recommend the population to avoid eat vegetables, specially in northern Germany. The health authorities are still searching the possible origin of this unusual bacteriological outbreak.
