Fumigations on the border would be suspended for a ‘long time’
Posted On 17 Dec 2014
Months ago, under the supervision of Ecuador, glyphosate spraying was resumed to eradicate drug crops on the border between Ecuador and Colombia.
On this, Ricardo Patiño said: “Colombia strictly fulfilled the agreement of not having fumigated within 10 miles. In the second year, the border was fumigated, but it has no longer done, it was done eventually, this is not information that can be given publicly because it threatens the people that do the spraying, but Ecuador has been present throughout our technicians to ensure that the type of aircraft, the product mix, the wind speed and the height is what was strictly agreed.”
When asked if the spraying will continue, he replied: “It will be suspended for a long time.”
