Gay couple asks to get marry in the Civil Registry
Citizens Santiago Vinces and Fernando Saltos aproached this morning to the Civil Registry of Guayaquil, as boyfriends, to make an appointment to get married.
Fernando, 23, and Santiago, 27, who’ve been living together for a year and a half, decided to formalize their relationship despite knowing that their request will be denied. However, they are prepared to file a protective action for the violation of their rights seeking for gay marriage legalization.
The authorities of the institution took their documents to verify the legality or not of the procedure. the process will last eight days.
This is the second gay couple that makes this request at the Civil Registry. In August, Pamela Troya and Gabriela Correa performed the same procedure which was denied. They filed a protective action and appeal, and now expect to achieve a favorable judgment to allow the wedding. Otherwise, they have said they will go to the Constitutional Court and international organizations.
