Government and business are working in a draft for food labeling

A draft proposed by the Ministry of Health for a General Labelling Regulation Food, will be analyzed by the Ecuadorian government and the local business sector. The emission term will expire on November 15 and should set time limits for handling a new labeling information.

About fifteen food businesses and ministries of Industries and Health are discussing this document. “There are many things to discuss, content, impact, define a position,” added Christian Wahli, president of the Association of Food and Beverage Manufacturers ( Anfab ) .

Ramiro Gonzalez, Minister of Industry, said that his portfolio of State promotes the implementation of two laboratories that will control transgenic components that any product could have, to be located initially in Quito and Guayaquil. His aspiration is to be operating in the first quarter of next year.
