Government Loyalists Kill Demonstrators in Yemen
Five protesters have been killed in Sanaa for expressing their contempt. People are protesting in the centre of the city against the power transfer deal that would give President Ali Abdullah Saleh immunity from prosecution.
Government loyalists dressed in simple clothing opened fire on protesters from rooftops and moving cars, during the attacks 33 people were also injured.
Thousands of protesters in Change Square made a mass demonstration against the promises of immunity granted to Saleh for his resignation in Saudi Arabia.
The deal offered by the GCC Initiative would allow Saleh to leave office in 30 days, thus making way for Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi, the Yemeni vice president, who will negotiate a power transfer with the opposition. (AV)
