Growing Pressure to Support Gaddafi’s Opposition

Posted On 08 Mar 2011

After a violent offensive by the forces of Muammar al Gaddafi, the Libyan rebels perished by hundreds. Now voices of the entire world express their contempt and request that the United States and its European allies stop the bombings against civilians. The General Secretary of NATO, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, warned that the attacks are deliberately made against civilians and these are crimes against humanity.

A diplomatic force of the United Nations informed that France and the United Kingdom are working on a document for the Security Council that imposes a zone of air exclusion. French officials assured that the Arab League will support this measure. President Barack Obaman augmented the pressure last Sunday when he expressed his desire to help the insurrection and suppress the planes of Gaddafi. The diplomatic chief of the Arabas, Abdala ben Zayed informed yesterday that on behalf the Arab monarchies of the Gulf, the U.N. must intervene to save the people from Libya. However, Russia minister of public relations, Sergei Lavrov, stated that the Libyans must solve their problems by themselves.

Gaddafi air forces made several incursions to the oil port of Ras Lanuf, during these attacks a civilian vehicle was destroyed. Rebels of the area informed that they can resist the land forces of Gaddafi, but they are overwhelmed when the tyrant uses his planes. The rebel leader Ali Suleiman stated that they do not want a foreign military intervention, but they do need a zone of air exclusion.
